Ronnie is a snail, barely larger than a dime. He lives in a bathtub, and one day, he climbs out of the drain of the shower and discovers a world full of light, colors, cucumbers, and water falling from the sky. And you’re in luck, because he’s taking you along for the ride. Come see life from the perspective of a snail inside of bathtub.

Toothache
(full length)
In Toothache, we get to know a family of immigrants from Spain who are starting a restaurant in the US. Pilar, Carlos, and Irene. We get to know them, who they are, and what they mean to one another.
But, more prominently, we meet Vera.
We meet all of Vera. All her joys, pains, flaws, and thoughts.
Vera has a toothache.
This story is about wealth inequality, culture, family, and pain. Pain in every twisted, beautiful way. How physical pain can bring our emotional pains to front. How pain, over time, can culminate into what controls our every step, our every intention. How pain brings us to consider ourselves.
This is a play about family- both the family we are born with and the family that we choose. This play is about healthcare. This is about pain, loss, mental illness. This play is about culture. How does one single person handle the weight of pain that life can give us? Where do we find joy?
I am a writer who often expresses my own frustrations in my work, and I wrote this play in a time that I was very frustrated with the United States healthcare system.
I am Spanish myself, and really enjoy Spanish culture. I wanted to write a play through this lens. This play is fueled my text messages and voicemails between my Spanish cousins and I, as well as memories of visits to Spain and the Spanish culture in my own home.
